NEWSLETTER 2.15.21 - THEME: Consistency

Happy Monday all!

Writing this newsletter is quickly becoming one of the best parts of my week, so thank you for being a part of it!

I realized that last week's newsletter was relatively long, so I will be more intentional with my words going forward. My goal is for this to be about a 5-minute read.

The theme for this week is consistency because, without it, nothing great can be achieved.

A QUOTE

"I accumulated small but consistent habits that ultimately led to results that were unimaginable when I started." - James Clear

I like this quote because from what I have experienced as an athlete, student, ukulele player, and now content creator is that the things we do consistently slowly but surely start to pay dividends and the results start to show. This is true for anything in life, nothing great worth doing is easy, but if we can implement consistent habits, the growth and outcomes we will see are well worth it.

A QUICK STORY

As I mentioned in last week's newsletter, I decided to take this semester off from school so that I can go back and play my final season of football, as well as leave Dickinson with no regrets wishing I was able to do or give more. Over the summer after I had already received the news that we would not be playing in the fall, I laced up my cleats and went running hills in my neighborhood, something I've had in my training for years. On the walk back to my house, a landscaper asked me where I play ball, and I told him the unfortunate news. At that time, I thought there was no way I'd ever play again. He told me, and at the time I was like "OK dude whatever," that where attention goes energy flows. This story resurfaced in my mind this morning because now as I am fortunate enough to be strapping up the pads for one more season, it allows me to be consistent in my training and make the most of the time I have left. No matter what you believe at a given moment, you never know how the tables can turn in your favor. Remember that.

A VIDEO WORTH WATCHING

Kobe Bryant - The Power of Sleep & Meditation

If you know me, you know how much I look up to Kobe Bryant. Not just for his play on the court, but for the way he exhibited leadership, controlled his mindset, and the impact he had on everyone around him. Getting more sleep and practicing morning breathing meditations have both helped me tremendously with my mindset and focus as of late. If you don't believe me that something that minute can ignite substantial change, just listen to Kobe.

PODCAST WORTH LISTENING TO

Real AF with Andy Frisella - 97. Programmed to Win

This episode (12 minutes long) is a good kick in the ass and will have you fired up ready to crush your week just as it did for me. Andy shares the two key factors every winner knows to be accurate about success and how you can apply them to your life.

NOTES FROM THE WEEK

  1. It is a lot easier to get out of bed in the morning if you are excited about what you get to do
  2. Be OK with doing what you can in a given day. But, don't mistake this for the lack of taking action
  3. Ambition is a forgotten trait we need with us in our pursuit

SOMETHING I'M PONDERING

How can we get the absolute maximum out of our days without feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, or overly exhausted?

DOMMY'S KITCHEN RECIPE OF THE WEEK

This is by far my favorite evening snack, and it is versatile- thank me later.

2 chocolate rice cakes

2 TBSP peanut butter

1-2 servings of HALO TOP Ice Cream (my favorites are chocolate chip cookie dough and chocolate mocha chip)

  • for those who don't know, Halo Top is as close as you can get to healthy ice cream, and you can find it anywhere.

PODCAST THINGS

If you have not gotten the chance to listen to last week's episode, I highly recommend doing so. It is one of my favorite I have done by far. Last week's episode: 43. How Failing and Taking Risks Will Lead You to Success | Tim Seifert

This week's preview: I interview a fella who skipped his high school graduation to go to Burlington Coat Factory. I'm not kidding. Stay tuned and find out why.

Thank you all for your continued support, it means the absolute world to me. Stay consistent with your daily habits and see growth and clarity enter your lives. Until next week, friends.

Best,

Dom

Happy Monday creatures of existence, (GO BACK AND PUT SOMETHING ABOUT THE SUPER BOWL) As you may have noticed, the email subject changed a bit. I want to start each week off with a theme to guide my thoughts, actions, and reactions; I hope you all will join me, or at least give it some thought, I think it could be quite beneficial. QUOTE OF THE WEEK: "For the meaning of life differs from man to man, from day to day and hour to hour. What matters, therefore, is not the meaning of life in...

Happy February you beautiful people you! I hope that the first month of 2021 was fantastic and wishing you all sustained growth as we trudge on into February. Life update: Yes, that title is correct. I have decided to take this semester off from school and graduate in December, rather than in May. And let me tell you, I have never felt happier or more inspired in my life. Why am I doing this, you ask? A few reasons, 1. I missed my entire Sophomore season of football due to a torn ACL, as well...

Happy Monday beautiful people, Today's memo is going to brief, as I just want to discuss something on my mind that I imagine many of you deal with as well. "Am I doing enough?" This is a question that pops into my head daily, then anxiety creeps in. "I should be doing..." "Look at this person they're doing..." "Maybe if I could just do this then..." I am here to tell you to take a deep breath, relax, and know that life has a way of working itself out. This is not to be substituted with a lack...
